Wilderness Hymnal is the solo project of British-Venezuelan musician and visual artist Javier Wallis.
Drawing on a hallucinatory Catholic childhood where liturgy, forest and dark history weren't far away from each other, the result is a series of apocalyptic psalms that blur the lines between doom metal, glacial electronica, progressive rock and eerie folk music.
Through this he explores deep personal anxieties around human violence, climate change and powerlessness. Evocative and cathartic, his work bristles with the fears of a generation facing an ominous future, economically and ecologically.
